Hello! I'm about to accept a position as an au pair in Rome for a family with a 15, 13 and 10 year old. I am very excited and they seem great. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for a first time au pair as to how to get used to living with the family, make friends, budget (do I need to bring a lot of extra $?), etc. As excited I as I am, I am also slightly nervous.

Also, if there are any aupairs in/around Rome I'd love to hear from you! Thanks :)

Hey there! I'm from Oz and have been au pairing in Rome since early June - it's great fun but still a little daunting since I haven't had a chance to make new friends yet and my Italian is still very basic (i'm teaching english to a 4 year old). Sounds like you'll be in a similar situation to me when you arrive (if you haven't already) so drop me a line if you're keen to talk more and need some advice - happy to help :)
